The Universitat de València, as a public research organism committed to the society, has created the Ethical Commission to provide effective and flexible answers to the current necessities of the university, as well as the new problems that might arise concerning this issue.

Concerning the basis of the aforementioned, and having into account the Spanish and European Law, as well as the Ethical Declarations of Helsinki and Tokyo, the Bioethical Declaration of Gijon of 24th June 2000 and the recommendations of the World Health Organization; proposed by the Research Commission, the Governing Council approves the constitution of the Ethical Commission of the Universitat de València and the current regulations.  The Commission will create the committees and appoint the work groups and partners to help in the fulfilment of particular tasks related to its competences. You can also ask for the assessment of experts or external entities on particular aspects related to its competences. They all will have to respect the principle of confidentiality.

The Ethical Commission of Experimental Research of the Universitat de València has a consultative nature and provides the corresponding assessment to the ethical problems that appear in the research projects. 

In the case that the research protocols affect beings or biological samples in which other institutions are involved, a favourable assessment of the Ethical Commission or similar organism will be required.

Research in human beings, human biological samples, animals, biological pathogenic agents or other genetically modified agents will be assessed as well.  The effects that the research process will have on life and the environment will also be considered.

The Universitat de València has a Commission of Good Practices, with three committees:
