Incentives for teaching UV master's degree courses in Catalan and English
Incentives for teaching UV master's degree courses in Catalan and English

A new boost for teaching in Catalan and English.

The University of Valencia has already consolidated language equality in the teaching offer of its degrees and will now encourage teaching in Catalan and English in the master's degrees.

The governing council of the University of Valencia has approved the criteria for the teaching offer in the 2022/2023 academic year. These new criteria consolidate the balance between Catalan and Spanish as teaching languages. The University becomes therefore established as the most multilingual and, at the same time, the most egalitarian of the Valencian universities, since it is the one that cares the most about the Valencian social and language reality while being firmly committed to internationalisation.

This year, moreover, the office of the vice-rector for Studies and Language Policy will promote multilingualism, especially at postgraduate level, by means of an economic incentive for master's degrees taught in Catalan and English and for those ones that increase the use of these languages for the next academic year. There will also be an increase in both the allocation of the awards for the language quality in the elaboration of teaching materials in these two languages and the support for languages learning and language certification of the University staff.

With all these measures, the University aims to ensure that its graduates are able to work in at least three languages: Catalan, Spanish and English or another foreign language.
