The University of A Coruña has decided to award the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Prof. Dr. Enrique Orts Berenguer at the nearly unanimous request of the Criminal Law Department of this Galician university.

Professor Orts continues as an emeritus attached to the ICCP, of which he was its director for many years, assuming the transformation of its foundational structure 50 years ago until its current model and managing to promote its growth and national and international recognition.

Enrique Orts obtained his PhD in Law, with an extraordinary prize, in 1976, from the Universitat de València, where he obtained the position of Assistant Professor by competitive examination in 1978. In 1981, also by competitive examination, he obtained the position of Associate Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he was Professor, Vice-Dean and Director of the School of Legal Practice.

Later he was Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of A Coruña, and Professor at the Faculty of Law at the Universitat de València, having been Director of the Department of Criminal Law as well as the University Institute of Research in Criminology and Criminal Sciences at the Universitat de València.

The award ceremony will take place on November 7 of this year in the Auditorium of the Principal's Office of the University, Rúa A Maestranza, nº 9. A Coruña.
