Following the instructions of the Conselleria (Regional Ministry) of Universal and Public Health, I2Sysbio gave the economic director of the Hospital Clínic Universitari de València, Juana Belmar, and its medical director, Jorge Navarro, a variety of materials, including gloves, masks and sanitary alcohols.

The pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is exposing our public health system to unprecedented stress. The need for personal protective equipment for professionals and support staff in our hospitals is urgent. On 15 March, the Ministry of Health ordered an inventory of all medical equipment held by public institutions and private companies. And on 24 March we received a request from the Regional Ministry of Universal Health and Public Health of the Generalitat Valenciana to donate our stock to the Hospital Clínic Universitari de València. The donation consisted, among others, of more than 15,000 nitrile gloves, 1,800 swabs, 350 disposable lab coats and more than 50 litres of various sanitary alcohols, the ingredients for preparing hydroalcoholic disinfectant solution. The call from the I2SysBio management to make the inventory, locate, pack and transport all this material, has received a generous and enthusiastic response from many members of the institute, aware that we are a public service.

Likewise, through the CSIC and the General Directorate of Research and High Inspection of the Conselleria of Universal and Public Health, we have communicated our capabilities, in equipment and personnel, available to assist in the diagnostic work of the new coronavirus.
