My name is David Lázaro, I'm an student on the Thirth Degree and
I'm doing my PhD in the Botanic Garden of the University of Valencia, with
the direction of Dr. Ana M. Ibars. At the same time I hold a scholarship reserach
with the ENSCONET (European Native Conservation Network) project.
My relationship with te Botanic Garden of the University of Valencia started
in 1999 after dispatching Comparated Plant Organography, with Dr. Ana M. Ibars,
when I offered myself as a practish voluntieer in the department for increasing
my knowledge about anatomic-histologic techniques used in Plant Biology. Since
then and until I finished my degree in Biology I've been learning protocols
for embeding different plant material (roots, leaves, stems, flowers, fruits
and seeds), not only in parafin but also with specific techniques in epoxi
resins obtaining demithin sections.
During this period I have participated in several activities organized by the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia, with the Plant Biology Department and specific colaborations with Dr. Manuel Costa (at this moment vice-dean in Search Policy), Dr. Eva Barreno (catedrática of Botany in the University of Valencia) and D. Martí Domínguez (Director of Métode magacine).
Since 2005 I'm working in the ENSCONET project, through an investigation scholarship, carrying out functions within the dissemination group about the project. This has allowed me to participate in different meetings about the project that have taken place so much within the national territory as at international level with encounter in Milenium Seed Bank as a part of Kew Gardens (Ardingly, London), Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (Crete), Trinity College of Dublin (Ireland), University of Athens (Greece), and Warsaw (Poland).
Since September 2004 I'm doing my Phd in the "Julio Iranzo"
anatomy and histology laboratory. It's about distinguishing plant material
in conservation as in the study of pollutants in threatened plants.
Also I have collaborated initially within the Genmedoc project that is establishing
a network of conservation of vegetal material (seeds and fern spores).
