On Tuesday 27 October 2020, the Chair for Linguistic Rights held, with the collaboration of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication of the University of Valencia, the seminar 'Sociolinguistic prospection in the field of Catalan. In memoriam Antoni M. Badia i Margarit, in his centenary'.

Given the health situation, this seminar was held as an online seminar. After the opening address by Rafael Castelló, Director of the Chair for Linguistic Rights, the following papers were read:

• Natxo Sorolla, lecturer in Sociology at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and researcher at the CRUSCAT Network of the Institute of Catalan Studies;
• Rosa Calafat, Lecturer in the Department of Catalan Philology and General Linguistics at the University of the Balearic Islands, and
• Antoni Mas, lecturer in the Department of Catalan Philology at the University of Alicante.

Professor Miquel Nicolàs, from the Department of Catalan Philology at the University of Valencia, closed the seminar.

This seminar commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Antoni Maria Badia i Margarit, philologist and linguist, an eminent specialist in the history of Catalan language and grammar and doctor 'honoris causa' by the University of Valencia since 2003.
