El Laboratori de Neuroanatomia Funcional Comparada de la Universitat de València va ser fundat al 1990 per Fernando Martínez-Garcia. Des d’aleshores treballem per entendre el cervell i la seua funció. La funció cerebral només podrà ser entesa si estudiem el comportament animal. I entendre el cervell només és possible estudiant-lo en diversos vertebrats. Com deia el nostre estimat amic Piet Hoogland, per alguns el cervell sembla ser allò que la rata te a l’interior del seu cap Com a membres de la comunitat universitària investiguem per generar coneixements i els transmetem publicant articles i llibres i mitjançant docència a molts nivells. The Lab of Functional and Comparative Neuroanatomy at the Universitat de València was funded in 1990 by Fernando Martínez-Garcia. Since then we are working to understand the brain and its function. Brain function can only be fully understood through the study of animal behaviour. And understanding the brain is only possible by studying brains of different vertebrates. Quoting our old friend Piet Hoogland, some people seem to think that the brain is what rats have inside their heads. As a universitary lab our compromise is to generate knowledge and to transmit this knowledge through papers and books, as well as by means of different kinds of teaching activities.
