Objectius

El grup de Neurobiologia Cel·lular combina l'estudi del sistema nerviós des d'una perspectiva cel·lular i molecular amb la investigació bàsica i aplicada de cèl·lules mare pluripotents. El nostre grup té com a objectivo central identificar els mecanismes moleculares i cel·lulars que regulen tant l'homeostasi de les cèl·lulas nervioses en condicions fisiològiques como aquells processos biològics que donen lloc a la manifestació de patologies en els sistemes nerviosos central i perifèric.

Què fem

En els nostres treballs d'investigació combinem diferents tècniques per a comprovar les nostres hipòtesis. Microscòpia electrònica per analitzar la ultraestructura cel·lular i dur a terme reconstruccions d'orgánulos, la microscòpia de fluorescència par analitzar l'expressió de marcadors proteics i la distribució subcel·lular d'orgànuls i proteïnes, així com assajos de time-lapse. Mitjançant tècniques bioquímiques analitzem l'expressió, interacció i modificació post-traduccional de proteïnes, així com la interacció de factors de transcripció amb seqüències reguladores d'ADN. Amb Microarrays i PCR quantitativa obtenim el perfil global del transcriptoma o determinats gens, i realitzem assajos comparatius d'expressió. L'ús combinat d'aquestes tècniques ens permet abordar l'estudi de problemes biològics complexos, com les patologias del sistema nerviós.

Al laboratori portem a terme tant investigació bàsica, per a entendre el funcionamient dels elements que controlen determinats processos biològics, com estudis aplicats, on estudiem els mecanismes moleculars i cel·lulars subjacents al desenvolupament de malalties neurodegeneratives.
