On December 12th 2023 (Salón de Grados – Facultat de Filologia, Traducció I Comunicació) LENA Research Group (North American Ethnic Minority Literatures in a Global Context) will celebrate a one-day Research Seminar entitled American Journeys, American Dreams, focusing on the origins, development, ramifications, and legacies of the journey and the American Dream tropes in U.S. literature, culture, and the arts through the 20th and 21st Centuries.

The seminar is organized by LENA members and coordinated by Prof. Anna Brígido and Carme Manuel under the umbrella of the research project “Reconfiguraciones de género, raza y clase social en la literatura étnica norteamericana de la era Obama/Trump” (GV/AICO/2021/249).

Featuring three guest lectures and several panels where our graduate students will present their ongoing work, American Journeys, American Dreams aims to disseminate central ideas on literature, identity, migration, culture, and social justice amongst the local/university community.
