We are launching a European Mirror Server,

which will help speed up access to the opera site for locations in Europe and elsewhere in the world that have been suffering from thin, overcrowded pipes to the US. The mirror server is located at the University of Valencia, Spain. It is synchronized with the primary server through an automated process and contains the same information, with less then a day of delay. Under some common network traffic conditions, european visitors to the opera site had to deal with long loading times and problems with the streaming video & audio. The mirror server helps to circumvene these problems, since the data does not have to cross the Atlantic anymore.

To use the mirror server, just go to www.cyberopera.org, as usual. In the navigation frame on the top edge of the site, you see a small text indicating the server that your browser is currently using. There also is a link to the other server in this text. Click this link, and the site switches to the mirror server, which will be indicated immediately. Click again to switch back. All data on the site is coming to you from the selected server.

The mirror server is made possible with the support of Hector M. Rulot Segovia at The University of Valencia.
