TOBIAS HILLER

Camerata Vocalis of the University of Tübingen Conductor

Tobias Hiller was born in 1966 in Waldkirch (on the declivity of southern Black Forest towards the Rhine Valley) and studied music, geography and history for school and college teachers at the University of Freiburg as well as Choir and Orchestra Conducting in Frankfurt-Main. He followed master courses of singing, among others with Barbara Schlick and Emma Kirkby. In advanced courses for conducting and in seminaires with Petr Eötvös, Michael Gielen and during the European Music Festival in Stuttgart, he concentrated on oratory and contemporary music literature. Within the limits of his teacher engagement at Freiburg Music Faculty, he conducted several first nights at the Institute for Contemporary Music. As a permanent conductor of various ensembles he worked out a wide spread concert repertoire. At the beginning of the winter semester 1999/2000 Tobias Hiller took over the charge of music conductor of the University of Tübingen, being the successor of Alexander Sumski.
