Dr.
Rodney Feldmann is an Emeritus Professor of Geology at Kent State University.
His area of specialization is the study of the evolutionary history of
fossil crabs and lobsters. Feldmann
has conducted field research in Antarctica both in the Dry Valleys region and in
the Antarctic Peninsula region, on Seymour and surrounding islands.
Fossil crabs and lobsters collected from these regions have provided the
backdrop for defining the biogeographic history and the early appearance of
decapod taxa in the high southern latitudes.
He has co-edited two books on the paleontology of areas in Antarctica in
addition to several other books and about 200 scientific papers.
