In summer 2001 Contxa, María, Amparo, Ricardo and me we rent a van, put our bikes inside it and went to visit these ex yugoslavian countries. Following the wise advices of the Lonely Planet guide we do not cycled on the continental Croatia (the traffic there is nearly suicidal), cyclind only in some islands. Specifically we cycled around Rab, Mljet, Korcula (the native land of Marco Polo) and Brac, visiting also the impressive cities of Dubroknic and Split.
Slovenia is a mountainous and beatiful country with friendly people suitable to practice every mountain sport that you can imagine, and specifically the mountain bike (there are plenty of signed tracks there to enjoy!). We went to three main areas: the valley of the river Krka (around Novo Mesto), the upper valley of the Savinja river (the impressive Logarska Dolina valley and surroundings) and the Triglav national park (Bled and Bovec).
We enjoyed so much cycling there that Gabi and me came back to Slovenia in August 2012. We cycled in four areas: Solcava (Logarska Dolina area), Rogla (Pohorje area), Bled y Kranjska Gora (Triglav National Park). I attach below the links to download the GPS tracks (in Wikiloc).
