On 20 February, I was honored to attend and contribute to the XI REMA Conference, which was held at the Ministry of Health of Spain and focused on the European Commission's strategy for phasing out animal testing for chemical safety assessment. As an invited speaker, I contributed to the discussion with a presentation on the research conducted by our RiskTox group at the University of Valencia, titled 'New perspectives of cell culture models in the toxic assessment of mycotoxins: from 2D to 3D models and microfluidic devices'. The conference served as a forum for the ongoing discourse on the advancement of more ethical and innovative regulatory frameworks, with a focus on the exploration of alternative models to animal experimentation.
