SUMMER SCHOOL. MINORITY LANGUAGES: LINGUISTIC RIGHTS AND PRACTICES

This training seminar on the linguistic rights and language policies of minority and minoritised languages, and the practices of their users. The planned activities seek to build knowledge by the students themselves on the basis of the materials provided through participatory dynamics.

The programme is structured according to an outline that will be repeated throughout the days of the event. It begins with a thematic conference, in which a guest speaker will develop an approach. This is followed by a participatory activity in which the students, organised into groups, discuss the speaker's proposal. This dynamic will conclude with a proposal shared by the students. Subsequently, the topic will be discussed in a round table in which three invited teachers will participate and the contribution made by the students in the team work will be included. The discussion will conclude with a debate.

The proposed Escola d'Estiu has the following objectives:

- to educate future generations of open-minded people committed to our common democratic values.

- to encourage reflection on classroom practices and stimulate the use of innovative and participatory student-centred methods.

- to promote multilingualism and respect for the linguistic rights of minority and minoritised language speakers.

- to address social challenges and improve the vision of an open society for the European citizens of tomorrow.
