Although crises of authority are as old as authority itself, since the beginning of the last century we have been witnessing a crisis of authority based on patriarchy that has various consequences in the ways of life and especially in politics. The distinct manifestations of this crisis, whether in the family, education, politics or religion, rely on the power of the word that resides in the unconscious. The deeper the crisis of authority, the more intense the return of forms of authoritarianism, such as the indiscriminate use of legal law or physical force. What can Jacques Lacan's psychoanalysis teach us for a contemporary reading of this fact?  Firstly, the difference between authority and power, but also a fact that responds to the sexual structure of the human being: beyond authority based on phallic logic, which works in a binary way with the all-or-nothing, the field opens up for one based on feminine logic, which takes into account each element one by one and with the non-all.
