Book launching Blasco Ibáñez en Norteamérica

Thursday 27th February, at 7 p.m., the book Blasco Ibáñez en Norteamérica (Spanish for Blasco Ibáñez in North America) by Emilio Sales Dasí will be launched at the Fan Set bookstore.

Manolo Gil, Director of Vincle Editorial; Gustau Muñoz, writer and critic; Carme Manuel, co-Director of BJC; and Emilio Sales, author of the book will intervene in the act.

In 1919, a highly successful Vicente Blasco Ibáñez travelled to the United States. Was it perhaps an unexpected stroke of luck that turned The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse into a publishing phenomenon that would allow Blasco to add an interesting new chapter to his hitherto fictional biography? Whatever the answer is, the writer's triumph in North America had a decisive impact on his artistic and personal career, and at the same time contributed to awakening interest in Spanish literature on the other side of the Atlantic. From the study of the press of the time, this volume presents a reencounter with Blasco who became a media figure, and even a publicity stunt, in the United States, where translations and film adaptations of his books or his journalistic collaborations were highly sought after. The reconstruction of an itinerary that also had stops in Mexico and Cuba is accompanied by various texts that strengthened the cosmopolitan image of this novelist, and that, because they were written in English, were and still are unknown to many of its Spanish readers.
