The Centre Cultural La Nau, the General Foundation of the Universitat de València-Martínez Guerricabeitia Collection and the Mainel Foundation are organising this exhibition by the photographer Isabel Muñoz, in collaboration with Casa África. The opening is scheduled for Thursday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m.

The photographic project, which the Mainel Foundation is recovering on its thirtieth anniversary, was born from the cooperation between Isabel Muñoz, Spanish National Photography Award 2016, and the Congolese journalist Caddy Adzuba, Princess of Asturias Award 2014.

This exhibition, "Mujeres del Congo. El camino hacia la esperanza" (Spanish for Women of Congo. Road to Hope), opened in 2015 at the headquarters of the French Institute in Kinshasa, with the support of the Spanish Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and now comes to the Universitat de València as part of the "Encuentros con la colección" (Spanish for Encounters with the Collection) programme of the Martínez Guerricabeitia Collection of the UV.

This is an exhibition that aims to show the hope of the Congolese women who have overcome the sexual violence to which they have been subjected, especially in the eastern part of the Central African country, considered by the United Nations to be one of the worst places in the world to be born a woman.
