From this Tuesday, June 2, those interested in enrolling at the ‘Universitat dels Majors’ for the next course may do so by filling out a form on the website of the International Centre of Gandia of the Universitat de València.
The Universitat dels Majors is the training program for over 50 years that the Universitat de València offers in Gandia since more than a decade ago. From this Monday until the 31st of July is open the pre-registration for the first year students of the Universidad dels Majors and it can be formalized by filling this form.
This is an educational programme aimed at people over 50 years old with a desire to learn and a motivation for culture, which aims to offer them the opportunity to participate as students in the activities of university life.
The only requirement for admission is age, as no previous studies are required. Thus, the International Centre of Gandia (CIG) offers a mixed itinerary of Social Sciences and Humanities that involves 600 hours of classes distributed in three academic years and that take place two days a week from October to June. Each of these courses has programmed four subjects, all of them taught by specialized teachers of the Universitat de València.
In this sense, in the first year the students receive classes in History of Art, Archaeology, Music and Health; in the second year, Law, Philosophy, Sociology and Heritage in the Valencian Community; and finally, in the third year, Psychology, Spanish Literature of the 20th century, Contemporary History and Economics. In addition, students will have to complement the class hours with a wide variety of alternative activities of free choice, such as field trips, lecture series, yoga, English, memorization, art lectures, photography and other courses and seminars, etc. In short, a wide range of possibilities offered by the Centre at the beginning of the course.
After the interruption of the present course due to the crisis of the COVID-19, from the International Centre of Gandia of the UV we are working to plan the next course 2020/2021 following all the guidelines set by the health authorities. Therefore, the next course will start in October, as planned.
