Hundred students take part in the first Employment and Entrepreneurship Forum of Social Sciences

The second meeting of Employment and Entrepreneurship Forum of Universitat de València has taken place in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Tarongers Campus) on Wednesday, October 30th, where hundred students have visited the stands of 25 participating companies and entities. This has been a special forum because it was the first time that Social Sciences held the meeting among companies and students. It was organised by the Office of the Vice-principal for Employment and Training Services that is leaded by Adela Valero, through UVempleo.

The event, aimed specially to the students who are in their last year of Degree or Master studies, has been an opportunity to know first-hand procedures and proposals about employment in the different professional profiles offered by the official training given at the Faculty.

“The Universitat bets for the employment forums, an excellent opportunity to promote the proximity among students and the labour market. For that reason, we encourage students to get close and to participate in knowing by first-hand the most popular professional profiles”, has assured the Principal of the Universitat de València, M.ª Vicenta Mestre, during the opening act.

The opening of the first employment forum of the Faculty of Social Sciences have counted on the participation of the visit of the Principal to all the participating organisations and entities, accompanied with the regional Secretary fro Employment and General Director of Labora, Enric Nomdedéu, who has given the opening conference; the General coordinator of Sustainable Economic Development Department of València City Council, Julio Olmos; the Dean, Albert Moncusí; the UVempleo Director, the Professor Marisa Quintanilla; and the General Manager of Fundació General of Universitat de València, Cristóbal Suria.

Altogether, 25 stand have been installed, leaded by València Activa-Ayuntamiento de València, Labora, Social Sciences Licensed Association of València (COGRASOVA), Nortempo, Clece e Inserta-Fundación ONCE, also University–Business Foundation of the Universitat de València, Asec, Language Centre of UV, COCEMFE València, Spanish Red Cross, Eixam Estudis Sociològics, Eulen S.A./Balsa Randstad Empleo ETT, Travelingua, UGT-PV, Umivale, UVemprén, Valora Prevención, Xarxa Dones amb Discapacitat and YMCA.

During the day, different activities have been made: a conference about the future of Social Sciences work and studies, official association’s talks, a workshop about professional competences and two round tables about employment abroad and the possible initiatives to start.

The Forums

The Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences will hold for the firs time this forum and it will take place on 5th February 2020. Likewise, as novelty, the Health field forum - in Charles Darwin square of Office of the Principal - and the Sciences field - in Burjassot-Paterna Campus - will include all faculties of the same field in an unique event. In that case, it will be celebrated on 1st and 2nd April 2020, respectively.

The other meetings will be on November 4th in Faculty of Pharmacy; on February 25th in Faculty of Geography and History; on March 25th in Faculty of Law and May 5th in ETSE (School of Engineering).

Previously, the students and the graduated people must enrol to the meeting that wanted to participate for obtaining an assistance certificate and to be assure of access, because there is limited capacity. How to participate, here.

On the other hand, UVempleo recommends for people who are looking for job to inform themselves about the participating companies of every forum, to choose those that are interesting for them and to get information about them too. Also, the employment service of UV, enrolled to the General Foundation of Universitat de València, will provide for the participants an orientation service for revising and optimizing the ‘curriculum vitae’ and the personal mark.
