The Faculty of Pharmacy, in the Burjassot-Paterna Campus, was the third meeting of the Forum for Emplyment and Entrepreneurship of the academic year 2019-2020, organised by the Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Employment and Training Services and UVJob. On Monday 4th November, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 24 companies and entities have been reunited and have made direct contact with students and graduates in the field of Health Sciences.

The event began with an inaugural conference entitled ‘Les competències transversals i la seua importància en l’ocupabilitat’ (Transversal competencies and their importance in employability), by the Pharmacy Pharmacist at UP Farmacia Degregorio, Antonio de Gregorio, and presented by the Vice-Dean of International Relationsips and Innovation, Teresa Garrigues.

Previously, the Vice-Principal for Employment and Training Services, Adela Valero; the Dean of the Faculty, Juan Carlos Moltó; the Director of UVJob, Marisa Quintanilla; and the manager of the University of Valencia General Foundation, Cristóbal Suria, together with other authorities and university positions, opened the doors of the Forum.

Throughout the morning, followed by hundreds of students, there were round tables dedicated to entrepreneurship and emerging professional profiles, as well as express workshops given by UVJob techniques; a networking and aperitif with companies entitled ‘Cerca la teua oportunitat d’ocupació’ (Look for your job opportunity); and the traditional delivery of diplomas to organizations that have supported this Forum.

The Principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, also visited the meeting in the Faculty of Pharmacy and said that “one of the missions of the Universitat is the job placement of our graduates. After receiving quality training at our Universitat, we have to give opportunities for the talent of our young people to remain in our society, and for this we have to encourage employment and entrepreneurship,” she added.

With the Forum of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Universitat closes the meetings between students and companies in the first quarter of the course.

In 2020
The next meeting will take place for the very first time at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences on 5th February 2020.  Another essential new is that the Health area forum will be held in the Charles Darwin Square of the Office of the Principal and the Science area forum at the Burjassot-Paterna Campus, which will bring together all the faculties of the same field in the same event. In this case, they will be held on 1st and 2nd April 2020, respectively.

The rest of the forums will be celebrated on 25th February at the Faculty of Geography and History, on 25th March at the Faculty of Law and on 5th May at the School of Engineering (ETSE).

A total of nine forums will be held, six in this second four-month period, thus reaching the highest number of faculties in the history of the macro-encounter that connects the university and the world of work each year.

Students and graduates must register prior to the day in which they want to participate, through http://www.uv.es/bolsadetrabajo, to obtain a certificate of subsequent attendance and ensure access, as the capacity is limited.  How to participate, here.

On the other hand, UVJob recommends that people actively look for employment to inform themselves of the companies that will participate in each forum, to select those that are of interest to them and to seek information about them. Besides, the UV employment service, registered at the University of Valencia General Foundation, will provide users with an orientation service to review and optimise CVs and personal branding.
