The University of Valencia (UV) has improved its position in the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), a ranking that measures the performance of 2,000 of these institutions around the world. Compared to 2021, the UV advances on a European scale (rises three places, to 115), advances four worldwide (reaches 284) and improves one position on a Spanish scale (it is fourth). In addition, it leads the ranking of Valencian universities and in the research indicator has also risen, in particular three places, to 229 in the world.

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has updated the CWUR ranking, which measures the overall performance of the world’s top 2,000 universities. Specifically, it aims to detail the quality of education and teachers, the employability of high-level alumni and research performance, without relying on surveys or data provided by universities.

According to this ranking, the best centers in the world are Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University; in Europe the universities of Cambridge, Oxford and the PSL University of Paris, while in Spain the first three positions are occupied by the universities of Barcelona, Autonomous of Barcelona and Complutense of Madrid.

The indicators taken into account for the CWUR are quality of education (25% of the total) or number of students at a university who have won international awards and medals, in relation to the size of the institution. Also the employability of high level of alumni (25%) or number of students who currently hold management or executive positions; and research performance (40%), broken down equally into indicators of a university’s publications, quality publications, influence, and citations. The remaining 10% is the quality of teachers, valued by the number of staff winning important international awards and medals.
