The Business Management and Administration (BMA) studies at the University of Valencia are the best in Spain, according to the Scimago-Institutions Rankings (SIR), a classification that evaluates the 4,533 best universities and scientific research institutions. In this Scopus ranking, one of the main providers of bibliometric data in the world, it is also shown that in Economics and Econometrics the Valencian centre is the second best in the country, that the institution as a whole has advanced from Spanish position 4-5 in 2022 to 3 in 2023 and that the UV occupies the world position 135 in the Research indicator.
This ranking has an institutional version and another one by subject, and classifies institutions that carry out research, ordered by a compound indicator that combines three groups of indicators based on research, innovation and social impact measured by the visibility of their website. These institutions have been selected with the sole criteria that they have to be university and research institutions with more than 100 published articles and included in the Scopus database.
Among other results, the UV ranks 207th in the world, number 65 in Europe and first in the Valencian Community. The classification is led by Harvard University.
By subjects, the institution also stands out in four areas, where it is placed among the hundred best centers in the world. They are Dentistry (59), Arts and Humanities (78), and Psychology (79) and Social Sciences (91), which correspond to the third, fifth, second and fourth positions in Spain, respectively. In total, of the 20 classified subjects, in nine the University of Valencia is among the five best Spanish centres: the four mentioned, BMA and Economics, plus Agricultural and Biological Sciences (4), Environmental Sciences (4) and Energy (5).
