The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, a classification by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) that measures the presence and visibility of institutions on the web, has placed the University of Valencia (UV) as the second best in Spain. The Valencian centre also ranks 195th worldwide, in line with the result obtained a few weeks ago in the Shanghai ranking, the most prestigious in scientific production, and which placed the UV among the 300 best in the world. In another ranking, the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), the institution is first in Spain in up to four areas, three (Economy, Business and Tourism) being the main ones in the Faculty of Economics.

The Webometrics ranking is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a CSIC research group that has published this ranking twice a year since 2004, now covering 11,994 centres. The UV, which advances one position compared to last summer at the Spanish level, is only surpassed by the University of Barcelona, and compared to 2021, it also improves in the European classification, where it is placed in position 59 (instead of 61 last year). On an international scale, Webometrics is led by Harvard and Stanford Universities and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

By indicators, regarding 2021, the UV improves in Openness/Transparency 17 positions and reaches the 175thplace. This indicator measures the number of citations of their main authors, according to Google Scholar Citations. The UV also improves in Excellence (position 222 worldwide), which refers to the number of academic articles published in high-impact international journals included in the 10% most cited in the respective disciplines. Regarding the third indicator, Impact/Visibility (number of backlinks or external networks with links pointing to the University of Valencia), the institution ranks 269th worldwide.

Also in uniRank, a classification based on web presence and popularity in terms of estimated traffic, trust and quality links, the University of Valencia improves its global position by 28 places, is in position 157 and reaches in third place behind the University of Barcelona and Complutense University of Madrid.

For its part, the URAP is a university classification of the Middle East Technical University (Turkey) based on academic results according to the quality and quantity of academic publications. In the latest update, the University of Valencia is first in Spain in three areas taught in the Faculty of Economics: Commerce, Management, Tourism and Services; also in Economics; as well as in Business.

The University of Valencia also ranks first in Spain in Food Engineering, and is second in Zoology. It is third in the following areas: Environmental Sciences, Education, Clinical Neurology and Psychology, as well as in Public, environmental and Labour Health. On an international scale, the UV stands out among the best in the world in Food Engineering (position 33), History (85), Business (89), Public, environmental and labour health (100), Zoology (110), Education (110) and Economics (118). In 32 of the 46 areas in which it is classified, the University of Valencia is first among the universities of the Valencian Community.
