The University of Valencia (UV) has improved its position in the Taiwan ranking, an international ranking on university performance based on scientific publications and citations. The institution is third in Spain and the first and only Valencian one, and gains positions at European and international level compared to 2020 (4 and 1, up to positions 79 and 2010, respectively). By subjects, the centre is the first in Spain in Economics and Business, and in Agricultural Sciences; second in Physics; and third in six: Chemistry, Psychiatry / Psychology, Geosciences, Space Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Engineering and Environment / Ecology. By fields of knowledge, the UV leads the Spanish classification in Natural Sciences.

The National Taiwan University Ranking (NTU) was first published in 2007 by the Taiwan Higher Education Assessment and Accreditation Council. Currently, it ranks 816 universities, 16 more than in 2020.

By subjects, in addition to those mentioned, the UV is fourth in Spain in Pharmacology and Toxicology, in Clinical Medicine, as well as in Microbiology. Overall, the Valencian academic centre is among the four best in Spain in twelve of the 19 subjects in which it is classified, the same number as last year, but on that occasion over 20 of these areas.

In addition, in fifteen of the 19 subjects it is the first Valencian centre, and improves the results of the previous year, where it was only in 13 of 20. As for the international calculation, the most prominent positions of the UV are Agricultural Sciences (23), Space Sciences (94) and Physics (97).

By fields of knowledge, the University leads five of the six areas at the Valencian level (Agriculture, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Medicine) and in addition to being the first in Spain in Natural Sciences, it is third in Agriculture, fourth in Medicine and fifth in Social Sciences.

The indicators used by the National Taiwan University Ranking (NTU) refer to the impact of research (35%), research excellence (40%) and research productivity (25%). In this last section, in addition, the University of Valencia improves in the number of articles for the current year (15% of the score) and maintains the number of articles from the last eleven years (10%).

This ranking is led by the universities of Harvard, Stanford and Toronto; at the European level by those of Oxford, London and Cambridge; and in Spain by the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Valencia.
