Users are informed that the installation of the new UC7 Ultramicrotome has already been completed. Thanks to the cryo cutting option, this equipment will allow the preparation of ultrafine frozen sample cuts by our technical staff.

The Microscopy Section of the SCSIE has incorporated the UC7 ultramicrotome. This is a highly sophisticated instrument to prepare samples for ultrafine cuts in the nanometer range, indispensable for the visualization of the samples through the electron microscope.

The samples can be cut at room temperature and/or frozen so they do not need prior preparation for cutting, saving costs and time for observation in the electron microscope, thus covering almost any type of sample or application both biological or material science.

The UC6 Ultramicrotome on the other hand becomes a direct access device for users and can be booked through the LIMS platform.
