Venlo greenhouse cabin with biological containment level 1 (NCB1), with control of temperature, relative humidity, CO₂, lighting and irrigation through the Ridder Multima system for regulation, and climate and irrigation control.

Description

It has 2 or 3 independent cultivation surfaces, each of 4 m², which can be replaced for a 8 m² cultivation surface. Wheels and height adjustment, suitable for growing plants of different sizes.

Equipped with an efficient inverter-type climate control system and humidification system which allow working in a wide range of temperature (12-50 °C) and relative humidity (30-100%). Automatic CO₂ controlling and dosing to achieve high levels in CO₂ stress tests.

Air treatment system: forced ventilation by means of extractors, with G4 filters (EN 779) in supply and exhaust. One cabin has a HEPA-H11 filter (EN 1822) in the exhaust.

It has two artificial lighting systems adaptable to the characteristics of each type of cultivation and assay. One is a traditional lighting system of 400 w high pressure sodium lamps and the other uses LED technology, developed specifically for horticulture, which promotes plant development, the cultivation of plant tissue and propagation. LED lights have a continuous AP673L spectrum which encourages plant growth and produces a rapid accumulation of biomass, improving the quality of the plants, as well as saving energy. Intensity of the lights can be regulated to adapt it to each crop's requirements. It is possible to select one of the two lighting systems or combining the two, according to the type of crop.

It includes MTV Active humidity bulb sensor for temperature and humidity measurement, PARELL radiation sensor, Licor LI-190R-DL-5 Quantum model, and CO₂ measurement sensor.

Equipped with different irrigation systems to adapt to each experiment's requirements: localised irrigation by drip irrigation, immersion irrigation, etc. Connected to the Ridder Fertimix automatic water and fertiliser dosing system, allowing diverse nutrient solutions to be designed in an efficient and controlled way, adapting to the plant species, the development stage of the crop, the climatic conditions, the composition of the starting water and the season of the year.

In order to achieve the required level of containment, there is an access sluice, air filtration system and biological inactivation system, both for solid waste and liquid effluents.

Practical implementation

This equipment allows the production and maintenance under biocontainment conditions of genetically modified plants and plants with specific pathogens (except polyphagous pathogens), destined for carrying out authorised tests in facilities witgh biological containment level 1.

These cultivation cabins can also be used for the quarantine maintenance of plant material for scientific or educational purposes, as well as for varietal selection or improvement tests, authorised in facilities with biosafety level 1 .

Through the services offered in this section of the SCSIE, all agents involved in the agro-biotechnological production chain find an important tool for the development of new technologies, products and R&D&I services, fostering excellent research and the generating wealth for the agriculture future within a sustainable environment.

Quality certifications
  1. The SCSIE vegetal production section is authorised to carry out activities classified as Type 1 Type 1 Contained Use with Genetically Modified Organisms according to regulations 2009/41/CE and 2000/54/CE. According to the regulations on working with GMOs it is considered a Type 1 facility (no or negligible risk). Notification no.: A/ES/00/I-02.
  2. It is also considered as a quarantine facility by Direcció General d'Agricultura, Ramaderia i Pesca del Servei de Sanitat Vegetal de la GVA (Directorate General for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Plant Health Service of the Valencian Government).
