The Degree in Physics aims to provide a solid training based on physical phenomena and the laws and models which explain them, knowing the language of mathematics, the experimental method, sophisticated instrumentation and computational methods. It also introduces into various leading basic and applied research fields. These studies ensure graduates are versatile professionals with the skills needed to resolve multidisciplinary problems in the scientific and technological fields.

  • Degree in Physics
    Profile

Versatility and problem-solving are the main Physics graduates' skills. Another advantage is the high employability for managerial and responsible positions in very broad and advanced sectors: basic and applied research in high-tech industrial sectors and in research centres (photonics, optoelectronics, the environment, alternative energies, fundamental particles and interactions, astrophysics, the aerospace industry, telecommunications, new technologies, virtual reality); health (medical physics); meteorological and geophysical services; scientific and technical consultancy, banking and finance; and science teaching and communication.

  • Degree in Physics
    Useful information
    • Curiosity and interest in natural phenomena and technology, as well as the ability to ask questions and find plausible explanations in a scientific context are required; it is also required mathematics background and the ability to maintain a continuous rhythm of study.
    • Theoretical subjects include practical problem-solving lessons in small groups, which facilitate studying and understanding, but it also contributes to the overall assessment.
    • In the experimental laboratories, measurement and data analysis techniques, as well as instrumentation are developed by small groups with personalised attention from the teaching staff. Computer science and computational subjects also include small-group work.
    • Students can undertake external work experience (6 optional credits), which allows them to get to know some of the many careers associated to physics.
    • Physicist is a regulated profession within the technical sector and the experimental sciences. The legislation recognises competences in a wide range of work areas.
