The initiative has been jointly organised by Faculties of the three campuses: the School of Engineering, the Faculty of Mathematics, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication supported by the International Relations Office. The Vice rector for Internationalisation and Cooperation together with representatives of the organising faculties will open the Summer School on 1 July at 9am.
This Summer School, addressed to master’s and PhD students, goes in depth, from a multidisciplinary point of view, in the interrelation between big data, artificial intelligence and communication by the hand of international teaching experts of different Utrecht Network member universities and company professionals who work in cutting edge projects in the application of data science.
Cybersecurity and digital privacy make up one of the core ideas of the sessions connected to cases studies such as Cambridge Analytical, as well as the influence that knowledge and data control can have on our ideological or consuming preferences.
The sessions cover not only introductory aspects of data science and the analysis of the connection between artificial intelligence and video games or cloud computing and the big data bases but also some of the most ground breaking applications in different topic areas.
Twitter political communication, the power of the video games industry or journalism investigation based on big data processing – as the Panama Papers case – as well as data visualisation from a within reach perspective, represent some of the course contents.
This 2nd of the Summer School, under the umbrella of the Utrecht Network, about data science will also count on the participation of representatives of Valencian companies, operating on an international level and who have made of data science an essential tool in medical image processing, architecture or big data bases consultancy.
