
The University of Valencia General Foundation (FGUV) and Universia Foundation continue to develop joint lines of work for the integration of disabled university students in different areas of life, as academic, social or employment. Now, the two institutions have launched the project Xarxa d’Orientació Laboral (ROL) with the finality to facilitate the employability of this collective.
This initiative responds to a specific agreement which is part of the agreement of collaboration signed by the two institutions and that collects other projects, as the Programme for the Study Support of the Disabled University Students (PAEDU), which started in October in the Unit for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, a service that depends on the University of Valencia General Foundation.
The project ROL consists in the creation of a specific service for university graduates and the students collective with disabilities, which favours their employment counselling through the Professional Placement and Careers Advice Monitoring Centre (OPAL). This service is managed by the University of Valencia General Foundation, an authorized entity as a Placement Agency by the Sistema Nacional de Ocupación, through the SERVEF of the Valencian Country.
This service, will hire a person that will act as employment advisor, (the hiring will be in charge of Universia Foundation in the facilities of OPAL designed for this project. And the two foundations will be responsible of the monitoring of the service.
The Principal of the University of Valencia and president of the University of Valencia General Foundation, Esteban Morcillo, has stressed the commitment of the academic institution with equal opportunities and employability. In this line, in the words of the Principal, “we must promote equal opportunities not only in the development of the academic activity but also in the transition to the labour market”.
Ramón Capdevila, in representation of Universia Foundation, has said: “to maintain our commitment with inclusive higher education, our actions are directed from the beginning to a university career, as a source of identification talent. Within the framework of supporting the university community with disabilities, we are developing the project Xarxa d’Orientació Laboral, with the objective of favouring employment counselling for students and graduates with disabilities.
The University of Valencia General Foundation is a non-profit cultural organization whose main objective is to support, teaching, research, cultural dissemination and integral human formation of the beneficiaries.
Universia Foundation, founded in 2005, is a private non-profit organization whose main purpose is to promote research, employment and training of people with disabilities. As well as encourage their employment and education integration, with particular attention to university studies and employment of quality.
