Yesterday, the historian Xavier Domènech Sampere debated about the working class and Franco’s regime at cultural centre La Nau, from 20:00. He has written many books on the subject – ‘Quan el carrer va deixar de ser seu’, ‘Quan plovien bombes’, ‘Clase obrera, antifranquismo y cambio político’, and recently, ‘Cambio político y movimiento obrero bajo el franquismo’. This event is one of the activities scheduled under the Fòrum de Debats of Universitat de València.
How the working class found out the nature of production relations during Franco’s regime, which elements made up their culture of protest in order to make it active in the process of political and social change, and thus, how the working class built their class consciousness are some of the topics to discuss in the debate. The event is going to be chaired by the Universitat de València’s lecturer Miguel Ángel García Calavia. Entrance is free but limited to space.
