Biography

Lluna Arias Cortina was educated entirely at the University of Valencia. She holds a Diploma and a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. She specialised by completing the Master's in Management and Promotion of Local Development and the Master's in Secondary Education in the Professional Training Area of Socio-Cultural and Community Services.

For many years she has been involved with various social movements and organisations as well as local authorities. First as a social worker, and later heading various services within the Social Welfare Department of Burjassot Town Hall (Disability Care, Active Ageing, Equality, Violence Prevention, Primary Social Services, etc.), and then directing the department itself, she was able to put her knowledge into practice. She has published various articles such as Protegir l’horta i preservar la seua biodiversitat (Neopàtria, 2018), Les associacions en els òrgans de participació ciutadana de Burjassot (TSNova, 2014), L’avaluació dels òrgans de Participació Ciutadana de Burjassot (Neopàtria, 2014) and Banc de Temps: Intercanvi i participació per al desenvolupament (Germania, 2013).

In 2016, she began her teaching career at the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Valencia, where she has served as an associate professor to this day. During this period, she participated in educational innovation projects for teaching improvement such as ‘Estic Actiu: Innovation and Transfer in educational contexts’, ‘Innovación Docente+Infancia+ID+i’ and ‘Emprendemos Juntos’.

Since 2021, she has combined her teaching role at the university with teaching in secondary education. She currently works at the IES Camp de Túria for the Ministry of Education, where she carries out, among other tasks, literacy in Valencian and the support of newly arrived students in our school system.
