Cristina Água-Mel holds a PhD in Hispanic Studies from the University of Birmingham, with previous training in Applied Linguistics, Conference Interpreting, and Modern Languages. Over the course of her career, she has taught at universities in Europe and Asia, including the University of Coimbra, Trinity College Dublin and Beijing Foreign Studies University. She has taught Portuguese language courses both online and in person, covering all levels from A1 to C2. Her work also involves the creation of specialized Portuguese courses, the development of learning materials, and the use of digital tools for language education. She is the author of the Portuguese Pronunciation for Native Speakers of Chinese (2016) and the creator of the podcast Portuguese Expressions. She is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French, and actively engages in continuous training in digital pedagogy and language teaching.
