Biography
My research focuses on the retrieval of land biophysical parameters and on improving the global estimation of carbon and water fluxes using remote sensing and machine learning. I have contributed to the development of global datasets and operational geospatial products, with experience in workflows related to NASA products and the Google Earth Engine platform.
Currently, at the Image Processing Laboratory (ISP), University of Valencia, I combine remote sensing expertise with advanced machine learning to enhance the monitoring and understanding of ecosystem processes. I am also strongly committed to teaching and academic training: I lecture in the Physics degree and in the Data Science bachelor’s program, and I particularly enjoy teaching and mentoring students in remote sensing and machine learning.

- Evaluation Panel for the Biodiversity-Exploratories. Exploratories serve as an open research platform for biodiversity and ecosystem research groups of Germany. The project harbors a large infrastructure managing 300 plots; 100 (50 grassland, 50 forest) in each of the three large-scale research landscapes: Biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin, National park Hainich and its surroundings and Biosphere area Schwaebische Alb. The project was established in 2006 and has a long-term funding perspective. The infrastructure as well as contributing scientific projects are funded by DFG. At the moment, about 45 projects are financed to work in the Biodiversity-Exploratories, taken out by scientists from about 35 Institutions. This programme harbours large data sets on all the various ecological parameters, long term data series are present from ground measurements as well as remote sensing data and so on. I was member of an international group of peer reviewers for the evaluation of the applications for research projects in the Biodiversity-Exploratories.. 27/06/2022 - 30/06/2022.
