Andreea Rosca is Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the Universitat de València (Spain) and a member of the Interuniversity Institute of Applied Modern Languages (IULMA). She holds an international PhD in Cognitive Linguistics from the University of La Rioja (2012), where she was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Award in 2015. Her research lies at the intersection of cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, Construction Grammar, language pedagogy, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP), with particular emphasis on figurative language, translation, and the pedagogical applications of cognitive approaches.
She has carried out funded research stays in the United States (2011), Italy (2015, 2019), the United Kingdom (2017), Croatia (2022), and Portugal (2025), and has participated as a guest professor in Erasmus+ mobility programmes in Romania, Turkey, Poland, and Italy. Her research has been published in well-established international journals such as RESLA, Atlantis, Onomázein, ESP Today Journal, and IJES, as well as in edited volumes with publishers including Comares, Tirant lo Blanch, and Peter Lang. She is the author of the monograph Phrasal Verbs through the Lens of Cognitive Linguistics (PUV, 2021) and has published over 25 scientific contributions, including journal articles and book chapters.
Dr. Rosca has played an active role in editorial and reference projects, contributing to major international initiatives such as the Bibliography of Metaphor and Metonymy (John Benjamins) and the Dictionaries of Linguistic Science and Communication (De Gruyter). She has also co-edited several collective volumes, including Telecollaborative Networks and Intercultural Learning in the Digital Age (Comares, 2021), Power, Persuasion, and Identity in Political and Medical Discourse: An Interdisciplinary Analysis (Peter Lang, forthcoming 2026), and Beyond Pragmatics: Contemporary Innovations and Future Directions (Comares, forthcoming 2026).
In addition to her research activity, she has participated in numerous national and international research projects, coordinated innovation projects in higher education, and organized international conferences. She has collaborated in the organization of five international conferences held at the University of La Rioja (2009, 2011, 2025) and the University of Valencia (2018, 2025), and has served as Director of four international conferences at the University of Valencia (2017, 2019, 2024, 2025).
She currently serves as Secretary of the Spanish Association of Cognitive Linguistics (AELCO) and directs the Cognitive Linguistics applied Research group (CLaRe) at the Universitat de València. She also co-directs the Innovation Group in Language, Employability, and Artificial Intelligence (INNOVALingua-EIA; GCID25-3799451), which explores how innovative methodologies and cognitive linguistics can enhance language education and employability outcomes.
Dr. Rosca is currently the Coordinator of the Degree in English Studies at the Universitat de València and previously served as Erasmus Coordinator for the programme (2019–2023). Her academic and professional work reflects a sustained commitment to interdisciplinary research, pedagogical innovation, and international collaboration.
