Biography

I work as an Associate Professor of Contemporary History at the Universitat de València. Besides, I am PI2 of the research project Género y nación franquista. Perspectivas transnacionales e interseccionales (PID2022-141082NB-C22), funded by the Spanish ministry for Science and Innovation. Currently, I coordinate the Area of Contemporary History, as well as the Aula d'Història i Memòria Democràtica. Previously, I was a Research Assistant (2010-2014) and then Head of Project (2014-2015) at the Cluster of Excellence Religion and Politics at the University of Münster (Germany), before changing to the UV in 2015 with a tenure-track position. I have also been Visiting fellow at the Free University of Berlin (Friedrich-Meinecke Institut), University of Vienna (Institut für Zeitgeschichte), Complutense de Madrid (Facultad de Ciencias Políticas), and Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Instituto de Ciências Humanas), as well as Guest Lecturer at the universities of Potsdam, Humboldt of Berlin and Vienna.

As for my research lines, my International PhD (2014) focused on the relations between the Women's Section of the Spanish Falange and the Nazi Party's youth and women organizations in Germany. My main research interest is interwar fascism(s) from a gender and transnational perspective, for example, their cross-border cooperation of European fascists in the 1930s and 1940's. Besides, I also publish on antisemitism, on the history of València as Capital of the Spanish Republic 1936-1937, and on Spain's struggle with Francoism's symbolic remains in the public space after 1979.

Regarding my academic publications, I have co-edited the volumes The Right and the Nation. Transnational Perspectives (Routledge 2023), Reactionary nationalists, fascists and dictatorships. Against democracy (Palgrave 2019) and Tot està per fer. València, Capital de la República 1936-1937 (UV 2016). Furthermore, I authored numerous articles in European journals, including, among others, the Journal of Contemporary History, Zeitgeschichte, Ayer, Historia y PolíticaNordisk Judaistik, Locus, or Análise Social. Besides several scientific articles, I have co/translated four scientific books into Spanish: Ulrich Herbert, El Tercer Reich. Historia de una dictadura (Publicacions de la Universitat de València, 2024), Marcelo Caruso, El espíritu o la Mecánica (Peter Lang 2021), Lutz Raphael, La Historia en la Era de los Extremos (Institución Fernado el Católico 2012), and Haupt/Langewiesche (eds.), Nation und Religion in Europa (Institución Fernado el Católico 2012).

Finally, I often collaborate, in different formats, with various media, be it the written press, radio or television.
