Biography

Andrea Sánchez i Bernet is a researcher at the Universitat de València and holder of the “Margarita Salas” post-doctoral grant for the requalification of the Spanish university system by the Ministry of Universities founded by the European Union, NextGenerationUE, where she is in charge of the project “El ditirambe i la tragèdia: coincidències i divergències lingüístiques entre gèneres literaris” [Dithyramb and tragedy: linguistic coincidences and divergences between literary genres]. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Philology (2014) and a Master's degree in Research in Languages and Literatures from the University of Valencia (2015), where she received her doctorate with the thesis “La llengua d’Èsquil. Estudi sintàctic de Perses, Set contra Tebes i Suplicants” [The Language of Aeschylus. Syntactic study of Persians, Seven against Thebes and Supplicants] (2020), directed by Professor J. Redondo. She has carried out research stays at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (AUTh / ΑΠΘ), Università di Bologna and Università di Verona.

Her main field of research is Attic tragedy. More specifically, she focuses on poetic literary language, both in lyrics and drama, and most of her research deals with the interactions between different literary genres. She has also published several articles and book chapters on reception of classical literature in other traditions and cross-cultural comparison. She is part of the research groups Grup d’Investigació en la Recepció de les Literatures Clàssiques [Research Group on the Reception of Classical Literatures] (GIRLC, main researchers Jordi Redondo, Mireia Movellán) and el Grup de Recerca i Acció Teatral de la UV [Group of Research and Theater Action of the UV] (GRATUV, main researchers Carmen Morenilla, Mikel Labiano), within which she has collaborated in the organization of numerous international seminars and conferences.

She has taught several undergraduate courses at the Universitat de València: "Greek III", "Greek V", "Greco-Latin Literature", "Religion and Mythology" and "Linguistic Commentary" and has supervised two Bachelor theses (TFG).
