. Sergio Armenta was granted by the Spanish Ministry of the Education, Culture and Science to do his PhD in the Analytical Chemistry Department of the University of Valencia in the period 2003-2006. During this period, several projects involving the development of analytical methods based on vibrational spectroscopy (IR, Raman and photoacoustic spectroscopy) resulted in the publication of 20 scientific papers in international journals of the JCR. An important part of the predoctoral training was based on the foreign stays in the prestigious research groups of prof. Frederic Cadet (Universite de la Reunion (Francia)) and Prof. Bernhard Lendl (Vienna University of Technology (Austria)). The PhD, presented in November 2006, was awarded with the 'Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado' by the University of Valencia in 2007. Dr. Sergio Armenta completed his postdoctoral training in the research group 'Process Analysis & Vibrational Spectroscopy' of the Vienna University of Technology by means of a grant of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science to do a research project based on chromatographic coupling with spectroscopic techniques using quantum cascade lasers. During this stage, it was performed a research stay in the Analytical Chemistry Department of the University of Cordoba to synthetize and apply smart nanoparticle materials as detector systems. Then, Dr. Sergio Armenta rejoined the Analytical Department of the University of Valencia through a 'Carmen y Severo Ochoa' grant of the Valencian city council. In 2010, Dr. Sergio Armenta moved to the Applied Chemometrics research group of the Chemistry Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona via a 'Juan de la Cierva' research contract. During this period, Dr. Sergio Armenta participated in different projects regarding the development of analytical methods based on vibrational spectroscopy and ion mobility spectrometry for the quality control of products and processes, which resulted in the publication of several scientific papers in international journal. In 2012, Dr. Sergio Armenta reintegrated the Analytical Department of the University of Valencia through a Profesor Contratado Doctor obtaining a permanent position as Tenured Professor in 2017. He has been main researcher in different proyects such as 'Drogo Detect: la Espectrometría de Movilidad Iónica en la detección del consumo de drogas de abuso' - UV-INV_PRECOMP13-115346 and 'DrogoSensor2: doble confirmación de drogas de abuso mediante IMS x IR' UV-INV-AE14-268280 funded by the University of Valencia, and the : Métodos de criba 'in situ' para resolver problemas en los sectores clinico-forense, medioambiental y alimentario - CTQ2014-52841-P of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. Cooperation with other relevant research groups includes: Prof. Manel Miró from the University of Balearic Island, Prof. Manel Alcalà from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Prof. Antonio Abad-Fuentes from the High Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), Prof. José Manuel Herrero-Martínez from the University of Valencia, Prof. Jacek Namiesnik from the Gdansk University of Technology, and Prof. Mohamed T. Jafari from the Isfajan University of Technology, among others..

. Cal destacar entre les aportacions científiques més significatives del candidat: 1. El nombre d' articles científics publicats a revistes internacionals de reconegut prestigi fruit del treball diari als diferents laboratoris d'investigació en el que el candidat ha desenvolupat la seua feïna científica. 2. Dintre dels més de 80 articles cal destacar que el 93% han sigut publicats a revistes que apareixen al ISI Journal Citation Index, i que prop del 80% apareixen al 1erquartil de les seues respectives categories, el que es un bon índex per mesurar la qualitat científica del canditat. 3. Un altre parametre que pot indicar la qualitat de la recerca és el h-index, que és de 15 (nombre de publicacions h amb un mínim de h vegades citat). 4. Les estades de recerca a centres d'investigació de reconegut prestigi tant en l'àmbit nacional com internacional, que han contribuït de forma significativa en la formació del candidat. 5. Participació en diferents projectes d'investigació dintre dels diferents grups de treball dels que ha format part. 6. Presentació de pòsters i comunicacions orals a congressos de nivell nacional e internacional. 7. Publicació de un nombre considerable de capitols de llibres de relevància internacional. 8. Publicació de un llibre a l'editorial Elsevier, dintre de la serie Comprehensive Analytical Chemistry Series. 9. Participicació com a referee en nombroses revistes científiques de caracter internacional, així com evaluador de projectes d'àmbit internacional. 10. Direcció de la Tesis doctoral de la Doctora A. Gonzálvez, que va obtenir una qualificaciío de Sobresalient Cum Laude al juliol de 2011 i de la que deriven més d'una dotzena de publicacions en revistes científiques de caire internacional..
