Biography

Carmen Berenguer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Valencia and a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Structure on Reading (ERI-Lectura). Her academic background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Valencia, an Official Master's Degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Specific Learning Needs, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Since 2015, she has been teaching in the field of developmental disorders and learning difficulties in the Psychology Bachelor's Degree, as well as normative development and diversity support in the Bachelor's Degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education, and early intervention in the Master's Degree in Special Education. Her research has focused on the study of neurodiversity, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) without intellectual disability and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Her work examines the adaptive, cognitive, social, and learning processes associated with these neurodevelopmental conditions. She has published in high-impact scientific journals in the fields of developmental psychology and special education and has participated in publicly funded research projects and contracts in collaboration with national and international institutions. In recent years, she has led several lines of research, including the development of an online psychosocial intervention program for parents of children with ASD and ADHD, as well as the study of parenting children with ASD and ADHD in collaboration with LUMSA University of Rome; the design of an Internet-based cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) program integrated with artificial intelligence to improve sleep problems in adolescents with Level 1 ASD, in collaboration with Stockholm University; and the analysis of the processes involved in reading comprehension and written composition in children and adolescents with ASD and ADHD.
