Biography

I am Jaume Brines, a Spanish as a Foreign Language Teacher at the Centre d'Idiomes de la Universitat de València and an Official Tourist Guide from Comunidad Valenciana. After reaching my degree in History in 2002 at the UV, for several years I was working as an Archaeologist, from 2004 until 2009, year in which I decided to change my professional career. Firstly, in summer 2010 I went to Madrid to the Instituto Cervantes in order to attend the Course Iniciación para profesores de Español and afterwards, I followed that background with the Máster de Estudios Hispánicos de la UV, at the Linguistic Departament of the Faculty of Filology.

During that Master, my first lessons took place in 2011 in the internship I did at Españolé International House. One year later, already as a teacher I had the chance to start my path teaching Spanish to a group of American students from the Iowa State University, with the help of the Linguistic Department. In that same summer 2012, I could stand for different teachers of the Centre d’Idiomes, beginning my experience in that language centre, where I passed interrupted periods of work until November 2015: since then, I am working there in a steady way. In 2021, I continued my formation as Spanish Teacher with Cursos de Acreditación de Examinadores DELE from Instituto Cervantes of Budapest, levels A1-A2, B1-B2 and C1-C2.

I am combining both my activity as a Spanish Teacher and as a Tourist Guide and sometimes I am preparing activities to foreign students. Both jobs are perfectly complementary and my experience and background allow me to bring the students an approach not only linguistic but also from a cultural point of view.
