Raquel Casesnoves Ferrer, graduated in Hispanic Philology from the University of Valencia and PhD in Linguistic Anthropology from the University of Montreal in 2001. She was employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Montreal between 2002 and 2004 and at the University of Ottawa during 2005. She won a Ramón y Cajal grant, and between 2008 and 2012  joined the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Pompeu Fabra University. She currently works as a full-time professor in the Department of Catalan Philology at the University of Valencia. His main research areas include Demolinguistics and Sociology of Language. The evolution of the knowledge and uses of Valencian, the socio-demographic factors, ideologies, motivations and identities that explain the biographies or linguistic trajectories of Valencians, the processes of Castilianization, Valencianization or revernacularization are some examples. He has participated in different research projects and was the IP of a national project (FFI2010-16066/FILO) in which the relationship between linguistic attitudes, identity and social network was studied in the use of Catalan in contact with other international and globalizing languages, Spanish in the Peninsula and English in New York. Since 2022, he has been a member of the research team of the national project Alta minorización y reproducción lingüística en el suroeste europeo (AMRELSE) PID 2021-125859NB-100, in which up to nine different universities participate, mostly from Spain, but also from Belgium and England. He has published in high-impact international journals, such as Language in Society, Journal of Sociolinguiscs and International Journal of Bilingualism and, above all, in national journals specialized in Sociolinguistics, such as Treballs de Sociolingüística Catalana and Revista de Llengua i Dret.
