Professor Isabel Castro was born in Valencia in 1963. She received her PhD in 1991 from the Universitat de València under the supervision of Professors Miguel Julve and Juan Faus. Following two years of postdoctoral research at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris), she returned to the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Universitat de València, where she is currently Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry.
Her research focuses on the rational design and development of new multifunctional molecular magnetic materials (MMMMs) within the framework of the Coordination Chemistry Team at the Molecular Science Institute (ICMol), University of Valencia. In addition to molecular magnetism, her work also encompasses molecular compounds of biomedical interest.
Professor Castro is responsible for several X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) research projects carried out at major large-scale facilities, including ESRF (Grenoble) and ALBA Synchrotron (Barcelona).
