Biography

I am a Ramón y Cajal Fellow (tenure-tracked investigator and professor) at the Universitat de València. I have a strong international background (PhD completed in France and Italy in 2017, postdoctoral experiences in Spain and Belgium between 2020 y 2024, various fellowships as a visiting professor or investigator in Argentina, Finland, Italy and the US). I am an expert of 19th-century revolutionary political cultures, through a transnational and comparative approach mainly focused on Southern Europe (Spain and Italy), being currently expanded to the Atlantic revolutionary area as a whole. My current research deals with martyrdom as a category of politics and as a tool of legitimation and political politicization, in order to reassess the way politics and religion were linked in the postrevolutionary societies.

From January 2023, I am the Principal Investigator of the research programme AMAPOL. Aspects du MArtyre POLitique (Europe méridionale 1800-1939), which is part of Casa de Velázquez's scientific programmation until December 2025.

Last published book: Les nouveaux martyrs XVIIIe-XXe siècle (París: Passés/Composés, 2024).
