Diego González Ortiz is an Associate Professor of Financial and Tax Law at the University of Valencia and currently serves as the Director of the Department of Financial and Tax Law and Legal History at the same university. Previously, he was affiliated with the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón for more than 23 years.
His research career, recognised with three national research periods (sexenios), has developed through competitive state and regional projects, along with research stays at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the University of Valencia. His doctoral thesis was distinguished with the Award of the Institute for Fiscal Studies.
With more than twenty-five years of teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, he has earned five teaching merits (quinquenios) and has promoted numerous educational innovation initiatives, as well as supervising bachelor’s theses, master’s theses, and a doctoral dissertation. He has held several academic responsibilities, including exchange coordinator, area coordinator, and strategic plan coordinator.
In the institutional and professional sphere, he has served as a substitute judge at the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community and at the National Court, has been a member of the Fiscal Observatory of the Valencian Community, and is responsible for the German constitutional case law section of the Revista Española de Derecho Financiero.
