Emilia Bea isProfessor of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy at the University of Valencia. Coordinator of the doctoral program in Sustainability and Peace in the Post-global era and member of the Academic Commission of the Master's Degree in Human Rights, Peace and Sustainable Development, of the teaching association of the Doctorate in "Diritti umani. Evoluzione, tutela i limiti" of the University of Palermo, of the Doctorate in Citizenship and Human Rights of the University of Barcelona and of the Research Group "Human Rights and Globalization" of the University of València.

It has six recognized sections of teaching activity. He has taught undergraduate courses in the subjects Natural Law, Legal Theory, Philosophy of Law, Human Rights, Introduction to Legal Thought, Political Theory and Philosophy, and Human Rights/Social Rights, and has tutored more than thirty TFGs. Regarding postgraduate teaching, he collaborated during several courses in the Master's Degree in International and European Union Studies, and constantly in the Master's Degree in Human Rights, Peace and Sustainable Development, in which he has directed more than forty TFMs. He has also supervised a total of nine doctoral theses at both the University of Valencia and the University of Barcelona. Teaching at the UV has been completed with participation in training programs and activities at other teaching centers, both Spanish and foreign, in addition to being a member of the team of more than ten teaching innovation projects.

As far as research activity is concerned, she has been recognized for four six-year periods of research and is a member of the scientific committee and external evaluator of numerous journals such as the Yearbook of Philosophy of Law, Rights and Freedoms, Cuadernos Electrónicoof Philosophy of Law, Person and Law, B@belonline, Aurora: papers from the María Zambrano Seminar, Lectora: magazine of gifts and texts, Universitas, Magazine of Philosophy, Annals of the Francisco Suárez Chair and Telematic Magazine of Philosophy of Law.

He has participated in more than twenty research projects funded in competitive calls, which has led to the organization and collaboration in numerous national and international conferences. As a result of these collaborations and various research stays in prestigious centers in Paris, Palermo, Rome and Pisa, a notable number of his publications are in foreign languages, especially French and Italian. Starting with her doctoral thesis on the thought of Simone Weil, for which she obtained the extraordinary doctorate prize, her main line of scientific research has focused on this philosopher, on whom a large part of her publications and activities focus. Research line that is complemented by the study of other contemporary authors such as Edith Stein, María Skobtsov, Virginia Woolf, Adélaïde Hautval, Etty Hillesum, Simone de Beauvoir, Gisèle Halimi, Hannah Arendt, María Zambrano or Rachel Bespaloff, and that has been developed mainly within the framework of the Seminari Filosofia i Gènere of the University of Barcelona, aimed at the reconstruction of a philosophical genealogy and feminine literature. Another notable area of research refers to torture, war, resistance against barbarism and intergenerational, transitional and restorative justice. Likewise, in the field of human rights, among other issues related to minority rights and social rights, his research work has focused on the relationship between rights, duties and the notion of responsibility.
