He presented his undergraduate thesis at the University of Navarra in 1979, on "El parlar d'Agullent", directed by Professor Joan Veny, from the University of Barcelona, extraordinary Bachelor's Degree. PhD in 1981 in Hispanic Philology at the University of Valencia, thesis on "El lèxic d'Antoni Canals", supervised by Professor Manuel Sanchis Guarner, extraordinary doctorate award. He has co-directed the PATROM-Patronimia Romanica, a project of the IEC coordinated with other Romance languages, He has co-directed the I Mestratge de Toponímia (1990-91), the first in a European university. Deputy Director of the Altles Lingüístic de la Comunitat Valenciana (1990-1993). Director of the Postgrau d'Onomàstica of the UV 2010-11. He has edited more than 55 books, has given lectures and courses at universities such as Cambridge, Liverpool, Salzburg, Colònia, Naples, Rome, Amsterdam, Uppsala, Boston, Paris, Budapest, Prague, Valladolid, Madrid, Cáceres, Barcelona, Lleida, Palma de Mallorca, Salamanca, Saragossa, Navarra, Santiago, ...
