Eloi Creus (Castellar del Vallès, 1992) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Valencia. He earned his PhD at the University of Barcelona, where he was awarded the extraordinary doctoral prize for his dissertation Riure en vers: cap a una traducció d’Aristòfanes, supervised by Professors Jaume Pòrtulas and Xavier Riu.
His research focuses primarily on translation studies applied to ancient texts, while also encompassing Greek and Latin metrics and ancient Greek theatre, especially comedy. He has presented papers at scholarly conferences, published articles in peer-reviewed journals, and works as a literary translator from the classical languages, Italian, and Friulian.
From Greek, he has translated works by Sappho, Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Plato, and Menander, and from Italian he has rendered into Catalan texts by Sandro Penna and Primo Levi.
Among other distinctions, he has received the Vidal Alcover Translation Award (Premis Ciutat de Tarragona 2019), the Rafel Jaume Poetry Translation Prize (2022) granted by the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana, and the Jordi Domènech Poetry Translation Prize (2023).
