Biography

Laura Esteban Romaní holds a degree in Social Work and a PhD in Social Sciences. Her doctoral thesis, Social action in times of quality and management: a diagnosis from the perspective of Social Work, was awarded the María Asunción Román Prize. She is a Permanent Lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Social Services.

She has over a decade of professional experience as a social worker at the Spanish Cystic Fibrosis Federation, where she held roles in direct practice, coordination, and management. This trajectory has enabled her to develop strong expertise in organizational management, as well as in the field of health and chronic conditions.

Her research focuses on quality management and organizational improvement in social services and the third sector, ecosocial social work, and educational innovation. In these areas, she has published articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals such as European Journal of Social Work, REVESCO, and Alternativas. Cuadernos de Trabajo Social, addressing the implementation of quality systems, the evaluation of social programs and services, and the intervention and supervision of teams in organizational contexts.

She has participated in applied research projects in collaboration with public administrations and third-sector organizations, aimed at transferring results into professional practice. She currently coordinates the ecosocial social work committee of the Official College of Social Work of Valencia, fostering knowledge transfer between academia and professional practice.
