Alberto García began his research activity in 1992, when he joined the Solid-State Spectroscopy Group of the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Valencia. He earned a PhD in Physics in 1996 from the University of Valencia. During his doctorate, he complemented his training with research stays at the University of Havana, Cuba, and at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany. Between 1997 and 2000, he carried out postdoctoral research stays in the Solid State Physics Group at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and in the Optoelectronics Group at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
In 2000, he returned to the University of Valencia as an Assistant Lecturer. Since 2001, he has been an Associate Professor in the Solid-State Spectroscopy Group and the Department of Applied Physics and Electromagnetism at the University of Valencia. As a successive member of the Solid-State Spectroscopy Group and the Quantum Materials Group, he has actively contributed to the implementation of new research lines related to the theoretical modelling of the electronic, optical, magnetic, and transport properties of materials of technological relevance. Alberto García has participated in more than 20 research projects awarded through competitive calls by different public administrations. His teaching activity has included undergraduate courses in the degree programs in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Telematics Engineering. In all of them, the content of the courses taught is mainly related to electromagnetism, electromagnetic waves, and solid-state physics. He has supervised/co-supervised five doctoral theses and several master’s theses.
