Biography

Training. Carlos J. Gómez García (Valladolid, 1964) Graduated in Chemistry from the Univ. of Valencia (Extraordinary Degree Award in 1988) with a scholarship at the Colegio Mayor San Juan de Ribera in Burjasot. Doctor in Chemistry from the Univ. of Valencia (Extraordinary doctorate award in 1991, director: Eugenio Coronado). Between 1993 and 1995 I did two post-doctoral stays at the University of Rennes (France) and at the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal in Bordeaux (France), with an HCM grant from the European Union.

Teaching. Assitant Professor of Inorganic Chemistry since 1998 and in 2006 I obtained the National Habilitation to University Professor. Since 2007 I am Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Valencia. I have taught more than 700 credits of university education at all levels in the last 34 years (first cycle, second cycle, master's and doctorate). I have directed more than 50 research Thesis including Final Degree/Degree Projects (36+4), Master's Thesis (11+1) and Doctoral Theses (6+2). I have been visiting professor at the University of Brest (France) twice (2001 and 2010), at the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2012, at the University of Rennes (2014) and at the University of Hokkaido (Japan, 2015). In the 2007/08 academic year, I received the prize for quality teaching in the educational innovation project of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Valencia.

Research. Since 2014, I am the director of the Multifunctional Tuneable Molecular Materials (M4) research group. My work focuses on the design, synthesis and characterization of molecular materials with electrical, magnetic and optical properties of interest that can also be modulated with external stimuli. I have co-authored 21 national and international book chapters and 453 publications in international journals that have received around 20500 citations, with an average of more than 46 citations per article, resulting in an h-index of 69 and m = 2.12 (m = h/years) . I have given more than 30 invited lectures at different National and International Universities and Schools and presented more than 50 oral and invited communications, having participated in more than 350 communications at National and International Congresses. I have directed a total of 14 research projects (2 European, 7 national and 5 regional) and participated in more than 50.

Management. Since 2005 I have been the Spanish representative on the Management Committee of the European action COST D35 and I have directed a COST working group that included 15 European laboratories between 2006 and 2011. I have directed a dozen research projects and organized numerous national and international congresses. I am the editor-in-chief of the journal Magnetochemistry (IF = 3.336, Q2) and member of the editorial committee of Journals as Inorg. Chem., Ind. J., Sci, Magn. magn. J. Res. and General Chemistry. I am referee in more than 40 journals such as Nature Commun., Nature Chemistry, Angew. Chem., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Inorg. Chem, Chem. Eur. J.,... for which I review about 40 articles per year. I have participated in more than 30 doctoral theses juries in Spain, France, Italy and Morocco. Member of the panel of expert evaluators of the Ministries of Education and Science of Romania and Poland (with headquarters in Bucharest and Warsaw, respectively) and evaluator of research projects for numerous national agencies (CSIC, ANECA, ANEP,...) and international: EU (RBUCE), USA (NSF), Switzerland (SNSF), France (ANR, ESRF), Czechia (CSF), Israel (UI-BNF),...
